The National University of Singapore Tamil Language Society (NUS TLS) is a student organization that has consistently focused on uplifting the Indian community academically and culturally through various activities since its inception in 1975. We also actively seek out avenues to promote the Tamil language and culture among our community through our various initiatives. Some of the events and programmes that we have been embarking on include, Sports Spectra, Saadhana Mentorship, Yutham and Inter-Uni Pongal Celebrations in collaboration with key partner organisations in Singapore.

 

NUS TLS is also the proud organiser of one of the most well-known Tamil theatre productions in Singapore – Sangae Muzhangu. Besides serving as a platform to develop and showcase the artistic talents of our Indian youth, Sangae Muzhangu also provides opportunities for budding Tamil writers, playwrights and actors/actresses to hone their language skills and has served as a springboard for them to venture further in this field, many of whom are already successful in the Tamil industry today. As such, Sangae Muzhangu 2025 is happening on 1st and 2nd August, ticket sales are open now!

NUS TLS has also organised our biennial Singapore Tamil Youth Conference (STYC). The main focus of this conferences is to engage youths from the pre-university and university levels and involve them in well-structured discussions on important socio-political issues pertaining to the Tamil Indian community in Singapore. Their recommendations are then compiled into a STYC Manifesto and presented to key organisations, in hopes for the ideas to be implemented in practice.

NUS TLS is proud to commemorate its 50th anniversary this year with a series of exciting events. As part of our celebrations, we will be hosting a prestigious Gala Dinner to honour our rich history, culture, and achievements, while reconnecting with our esteemed alumni. 1975 ஆம் ஆண்டு நிறுவப்பட்ட தேசியப் பல்கலைக் கழகத் தமிழ்ப் பேரவை, வெவ்வேறுத் திட்டங்களைக் கொண்டு, இந்தியச் சமூகத்தை கலாச்சாரம் மற்றும் கல்வித்திறன் ஆகிய முறைகளில், முரண்பாடற்ற வழியில் மேம்படுத்த உதவுகிறது. மேலும், இப்பேரவை முழுவதையும், கல்லூரி மாணவர்களே நிர்வாகம் செய்து நடத்துகின்றனர். நாங்கள் படைக்கும் நிகழ்ச்சிகளையும் திட்டங்களையும் பயன்படுத்தி, நம் சமூகத்தில் தமிழ் மொழியையும் கலாச்சாரத்தையும் விருத்திசெய்யும் வாய்ப்புகளைத் தேடும் பணியில் தீவிரமாக செயல்ப்படுகின்றோம். நாங்கள் செயல்ப்படுத்தும் திட்டங்கள் மற்றும் நிகழ்ச்சிகளுக்கு “Sports Spectra”, “யுத்தம்” மற்றும் “சாதனா” ஆகியவைச் சில எடுத்துக்காட்டுகள் ஆகும்.     
                                                             

மேலும், சங்கே முழங்கு என்ற ஒரு பிரபலமான தமிழ் நாடக தயாரிப்பை NUS தமிழ் பேரவை பெருமையுடன் படைத்தது வருகின்றது. நம் இந்திய இளைஞர்களின் கலைக்குரிய திறமைகளை மேம்படுத்தி வெளிக்காட்ட ஒரு மேடையாக மட்டும் அமையாமல், மேல்வரும் தமிழ் எழுத்தாளர்களுக்கும் நாடக குழுவினர்களுக்கும் அவர்களின் மொழி திறன்களை மேம்படுத்துவதற்கு  சங்கே முழங்கு ஒரு சந்தர்ப்பமாக அமைகிறது. நிறைய மாணவர்கள் இந்த மேடையை பயன்படுத்தி, இன்று நம் தமிழ் ஊடகத் துறையில் வெற்றிக்குரியவர்களாக இருக்கிறார்கள். அவ்வகையில் இவாண்டும் சங்கே முழங்கு ஆகஸ்ட் 1, 2, தேதிகளில் நிகழவிருக்கிறது.

தேசிய பல்கலைக்கழக தமிழ்ப் பேரவை, ஈராண்டிற்கு ஒரு முறை நடத்தப்படும் சிங்கப்பூர்த் தமிழிளைஞர் மாநாட்டையும் (STYC) ஏற்பாடு செய்துள்ளது. பல்கலைக்கழகத்தில் நுழையவிருக்கும் மற்றும் பல்கலைக்கழகத்தில் பயின்றுகொண்டிருக்கும் மாணவர்களை நன்கு-கட்டமைக்கப்பட்ட உரையாடல்களின் வாயிலாக சிங்கப்பூர்த் தமிழ் சமுதாயத்தைச் சார்ந்த சவால்களைப் பற்றி சிந்திக்க வைப்பதே அதன் பிரதான நோக்கமாக இருந்தது. அவர்களின் பரிந்துரைகள் பின்னர் ஒரு STYC அறிக்கையாக தொகுக்கப்பட்டு, முக்கிய நிறுவனங்களுக்கு வழங்கப்படுகின்றன, இதன் மூலம் யோசனைகள் நடைமுறையில் செயல்படுத்தப்படும் என்ற நம்பிக்கை உள்ளது.​

இந்த ஆண்டு, NUS TLS தனது 50வது ஆண்டு நிறைவைக் கொண்டாடுவதில் பெருமிதம் கொள்கிறது. எங்கள் கொண்டாட்டங்களின் ஒரு பகுதியாக, எங்கள் மதிப்புமிக்க முன்னாள் உறுப்பினர்கள் மீண்டும் இணைவதோடு, எங்கள் வளமான வரலாறு, கலாச்சாரம் மற்றும் சாதனைகளை கௌரவிக்கும் வகையில் TLS 50 Gala Dinner மே 17th நடைபெற உள்ளது. TLS முன்னாள் உறுப்பினர்கள்  நுழைவுசீட்டுகளை விரைவில் பெற்றுக்கொள்ள முடியும்.
